About Alexandra

Alexandra Thomashoff is a woman of boundless passions, combining her love of cooking, animals, and the natural world into a life rich with creativity and exploration. A devoted culinary enthusiast, she delights in experimenting with recipes and delving into the art of winemaking. Her affection for animals shines through in her love for horses and her cherished dachshund, Audrey, who brings constant joy to her days.
Beyond the kitchen, Alexandra is an accomplished nature photographer, showcasing her work on her Wilderness Untouched website. Her outdoor adventures often take her to remote corners of the globe, where she travels with her husband to observe birds, capture wildlife, and immerse herself in the beauty of untamed landscapes.
Though writing now defines her life, Alexandra’s early career aspirations were vastly different. She once dreamed of becoming a forensic scientist, drawn by her analytical mind and curiosity. However, storytelling captured her imagination early—her first story was written at just 12 years old. After exploring law and opera singing, she returned to writing at 19, crafting her first crime novel. She later ventured into thrillers, producing a dark Cape Town narrative. Despite her accomplishments, she didn’t yet identify as a writer.
Her turning point came after reading Sweetbitter, which inspired her to write Still Strangers. Although its cross-genre nature posed challenges in finding a publisher, the experience ultimately led her to the fantasy genre. There, she found the creative freedom to craft dark, multifaceted characters and intricate, vivid worlds. This journey culminated in her novel Kingdom of the Two Moons.
